Klambratún Park - Thorsteinn Erlingsson

Here at Klambratún Park, in the vicinity of the bust of poet Thorsteinn Erlingsson (1858-1914), we offer you a reading of his poem "The Snow Bunting". Thorsteinn's early poetry was characterized by romanticism, featuring reflections on the beauty of nature and admiration of Icelandic traditions. His poetry took a turn for social criticism after his studies in Copenhagen, where he came into contact with the tenets of socialism. In "The Snow Bunting", or "Sólskríkjan in Icelandic, these aspects of his poetry can be discerned.
