Magnús Sigurðsson

Magnús Sigurðsson was born on August 4, 1984 in Ísafjörður. He is a literature scholar, writer and translator.

Magnús completed a BA-degree in comparative literature from the University of Iceland in 2007 and a MA-degree in nordic literature from the University of Lund in Sweeden in 2012. In 2019 he became a Ph.d. in comparative literature from the University of Iceland. His thesis, Fegurðin — Er —. Emily Dickinson í íslenskum bókmenntaheimi, is about the poet Emiliy Dickinson in the Icelandic literary landscape.  Magnús has translated Dickinson's poetry and was nominated to the Icelandic Translators' Prize in 2021.

He was awarded the Tómas Guðmundsson's Poetry Prize in 2008 for the collection Fiðrildi, mynta og spörfuglar Lesbíu and in 2013 he got first prize in the poetry competition Ljóðstafur Jóns úr Vör.

In addition to writing and translating, Magnús has lectured at the University of Iceland and worked as an editor for the publishing houses Uppheimar and Dimma.
