When valley fog
hides the rim of mountains behind it
–or else dark clouds
it stands
alone.
Hinting at
halidom.
2.
A highway
cuts across my road
to the mountain...
The rapids of the highway.
Nowhere a ford.
No murmuring water.
But droning cars–
A wall of noise
in place of spray ...
3.
Some unpleasantness
must have created this hump
The place's response,
perhaps,
to all the little,
neat mountains
around. So
it stands
tall: a
symbol of nobleness
in adversity.
