Simmering Prose and Poetry

Reykjavík City of Literature and Sundhöll Swimming Pool welcome you to an evening of poetic relaxation during the Winter Lights Festival in Reykjavík. Pool patrons can unwind in the indoor swimming pool while listening to recorded Icelandic poetry, between 8 PM and midnight. The poetry will sound both above and below the water surface and special light effects will make the experience even more serene. Between 8 PM – 10PM guests can borrow a float-cap and enjoy floating in the indoor swimming pool, while listening to Icelandic poetry. The float-cap is designed to give you the experience of weightlessness and enables you to achieve a deep nourishing relaxation. The float-caps and support will be available for free and experts will tell you how to use it. Between 8PM – 9PM poetesses Björk Þorgrímsdóttir, Halla Margrét Jóhannsdóttir, Æsa Strand Viðarsdóttir and Þórey Mjallhvít H. Ómarsdóttir will read their original stories and poems for guests in the outdoor hot tubs at Sundhöllin swimming pool. More information on the Winter Lights Festival can be found at
