Award-winning controversial French author Michel Houellebecq is visiting Reykjavík to discuss his latest novel The Map and the Territory, which was published in an Icelandic translation earlier this month by publishing house Forlagið. Houllebecq will participate in an interview with the Icelandic translator of the novel, Friðrik Rafnsson, on Thursday October 11, 20:00, at Café Sólon in downtown Reykjavík. Following the interview Houellebecq will read from the novel in French and take questions from the audience. The event is in French but an Icelandic translation will be provided simultaneously. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. The Map and the Territory is Houellebecq‘s fifth novel. It was one of the most eagerly anticipated novels of the 2010 literary season in France and received the Prix Goncourt the same year. It is the third novel by him to be translated in Icelandic.
